On two pistols I own, a burr has developed. Both burrs were in different places, one requiring a gunsmith to polish, just incase due to the area being located in the ejection port. The most recent one is located at the end of a slide rail. This I also had checked out just to make sure, and was told it is a non-functional issue. I filed the sharpness out.

My main question is this normal? Am I going to see occasional burrs, or never see one?

Thanks again in advance.

One on a SA 1911, and one on a keltec.

Are you using steel cased ammo? Brass cases causing burrs in the ejection port would be quite unusual.

It is normal on the Kel-Tec. Just sand it out with 400 girt sand paper and polish it with 600 girt. Your extractor is most likely causing the bur on the frame. Just keep sanding it out. The extractor is much harder than the frame. For some reason the frame was made to long on the extractor side. I had the same question and called Kel-Tec.

All rounds shot have been brass, not steel. I also only use factory loads, not hand loads.
