Here's the deal, I can buy an AK PArts Kit from these folks http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=62 for $100.

I can buy a single stack receiver for $70 from the same folks http://www.centerfiresystems.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=1099.

This looks too easy. For $170 (plus FFL Xfer for thereceiver) I can get an AK-47,and all that's left to buy are mags. 20 round mags (the upper limit in Maryland :barf: ) are dirt cheap.

Am I missing something here?

Does anyone here have any experience with these folks.

All the best,
Rob

Good people, and easy to deal with. Is there a particular reason you want to go the single stack route on the magazines? Just wondering. For $70.00 you could get a Global or Ohio Ordinance Works (OOW) pre-tempered reciever from Ohio Rapid Fire,

You will need to get US made compliance parts to make your build 100% legal, something that (depending what you get) may set you badk $150-$200 more.

And yeah Gaffer, they are that easy to build!

Go with a double stack receiver unless your state or local laws prohibit it. Compliance parts (you'll need 5 plus the receiver) can be purchased as a kit or individually for around $40-60. Check here; http://www.copesdist.com/ak47.htm
You will also need rivets or screws for the build at a cost of $10-15. Here is a link to the compliance parts you can replace to make it legal: http://www.gunco.net/forums/showthread.php?t=696 Gunco.net also have a lot of build info and tutorials. They helped me get through my first build.
Good Luck!
