Is this a good scope? I'm looking for a varmint style scope around this price range ($400-500). I've never used a Bushnell so what are your thoughts on them? Do you have any other suggestions on other like scopes in the same price range? Thanks for your help.

I have nothing but good things to say about the 4200 series Bushnell scopes. I would say that they are in the same league as VX-II leupolds and Burris signature line. I must have a half a dozen 4200's and never had a problem with any of them.

For stationary varmint hunting perhaps a 6-24 might be better. For a walk around varmint rifle a 4-16 is about perfect, depending on your terrain.

Bright, excellent quality, clear, and a good value for the money. You will do well with one.

There are many better scopes but you will have to really up the price tag to gain a small amount in terms of brightness and clarity.

Nikon, Burris also make nice scopes in the price range you are looking at.

The VX-II leupold is a great scope and excellent quality. You'll pay a bit more but they are worth it. The top of the line leupolds and german scopes are fantastic but you may have to mortgage the house for one...

I have two 6x24's, one is a 4000 with Bauch and Lomb on the side, and they are very clear and the adjustments work as they should. You could do a lot worse.

They are a very good scope - but if you were going to use them for hunting purposes only - I would use the 3200 and not the 4200.

Only because I am not a big fan of the target knobs sticking out the side of the trunion.

Very clear and very high quality - in my opinion better than a Vari X 3 Leupold..

I have a 4200 3-9x40 and it's a great scope. I'd recommend them.

Great scopes! It is difficult to keep them in stock sometimes. I would also have to give a nod to the Nikon Monarch though; they are another great scope in the same price range.

I love my Elites! :) Have a 4200 2.5-10x40 on my 30.06, a 3200 4-12 x 40 on my .204 Ruger and arriving this week is a 3200 Firefly 3-9 x 40 for my 6.5 x 55Swede.
Super bright, rugged and the Rainguard is fabulous!:)
