Either one, if you find ammo that it likes. heck, buy both as they are nice rifles. My 77/22 has the look and feel of a centerfire and is very nicely made.

In rimfire rifles the chamber dimensions make a huge difference. I read an article where an Anschutz match rifle had it's groups doubled when a larger sporting chamber was cut instead of the usual tight match chamber. Any chamber that puts the bullet at the start of the rifling instead of letting it jump will shoot better. You can tell by pushing the cartridge into the chamber by hand, you will feel resistance in the tighter/shorter chamber. The weight of the barrel is secondary.
