I suggest you shoot both ( or at least the .40 ) and make your own choice. I have never shot that .40 but I would imagine it might be somewhat of a handful, especially if you intend to actually practice with it very much. For my money I think I would buy the 9mm but then I actually think you are just as well protected with a 9mm as you are with a .40. Blasphemy I know but there it is anyway

I would go with the 9mm. I recently purchased a Kahr CW9 (polymer frame) for carry and find it very comfortable and controllable to shoot.

I also have a G23 that I shoot well with, but for me I think the .40 S&W is better suited in a medium framed handgun. Judging from the recoil in my Glock, I would think the .40 in the Kahr would be a little uncomfortable to shoot.

I'm sure there are people happy with Kahrs in .40, but I feel better with something that I can easily control and keep on target. The 9mm. fits that bill in a smaller framed pistol without compromising anything.

recoil is a little more than a 9mm but very controlable. the weight of the khar tames it. i would just get the 9mm and be very happy.
