Don't have personal experience with .17HMR, nor with the rifles you mention...

What I do know is that my (bone stock) Marlin model 60, in .22, will shoot 3/4" groups at 100 yards with Match ammo...So,in short, I think Marlin makes really outstandingly accurate guns for the money.

I have a Marlin 917ss that routinely shoots those groups. I put in a Rifle Basix trigger, bedded it and mounted a redfield 6.5-20 Illuminator scope on it with BKL mounts. Get more power on your glass for this little guy and you will really be amazed what you can shoot with it. Aim small, shoot small. Some times I shoot off a Harris 25c Bipod, but most of the time off of my Varmint Al Bi-fur pod. I have shot out to 300 with it but at paper or grackles. Best 5 shot group is right at 3 inch at 300 prone off Sinclair rest and bag. Must be not a breath of air though because it is really affected by wind. Mine shoots best with the Hornady 20 gr. Gets boring a bit at 100 because it just keeps on knocking off dimes consistenty. Try flies on the target....more of a challange. Go to www.rimfirecentral.com ,click Marlin forum and get the low down on what everyone else is shooting. I post there too. Some will say that it doesn't have much knock down power, but with shot placement it makes up for it with the explosive round. Want meat from a kill.....shoot for the head period. Most fun gun I own.

Here's a group (on the left) that I shot with my Marlin 917. Shot @ 100yds off a bipod w/ rear sandbag using Federal Premium 17gr ammo. The target was a SR1-C target. It measured just a hair over .4"

The T900 is trigger is kinda spongy. I'd replace it with a RifleBasix trigger.

I have the same gun as the pic above and I can keep it on a prairie-dog all day at 175 yards. Sweet gun, great caliber!
