Hello,

I am considering a Ruger P345 as my next hand gun. I know Ruger has a great reputation for durability and I am just wondering if the 345 is holding up the Ruger reputation.

Thanks!

I own a P345 that I purchased in March of this year. It is a fantastic pistol! It is 100% reliable with a wide assortment of different ammo (1,500+ rounds), has great ergonomics (feels really good in my hand), has less felt recoil than my Colt 1911, has a picatinny rail that I mounted a Streamlight (great for home defense), is more accurate than me and is backed by the best service in the industry. If you EVER have a problem with a Ruger, whether you are the original purchaser or not, they will make it right. Oh yea, and they are American made by an American company and that matters to me:)

I've had one for about 9 months now. Put a little of 1000 rounds through it so far. I am quite pleased with the gun, its accuracy, and dependability. I really like the rail on it. The streamlight M3X fits perfect, and goes on and off with a quick release. From my experience with the KP345R, I would highly recommend one.

Lost count of how many rounds I ran through my KP345, but definitely into the K's. No problems at all, last visit, I TRIED to jam it up, FTE, FTF, anything...no luck. I staggared 200gr FMJ with 230gr FMJ, along with 230gr HP's all from different companies. I fired in quick succession without grouping in mind, just trying to fire rapidly to see if different rounds and grains would do anything...NOTHING!! I love this gun!! On a side note, I also did this with my XD and Glock...absolutely no issues with the XD, but had 2 ejection issues with the Glock. Funny but I was anticipating Feeding issues, not ejection issues.

I love my new Ruger KP345 stainless 45 auto with M-6 Tactical Light. It gobbles up everything with zero misfeeds.

Steve

P.S. IMHO, after reviewing hundreds of ballistic tests in 45 ACP, the top 4 self defense loads are:

* Double Tap 45 ACP 230-gr. Gold Dot JHP (http://www.doubletapammo.com/php/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=34&products_id=95) @ 1,010 fps = 15.3" & .95"

* Ranger T 230-gr. +P (RA45TP) @ 990 fps = 15.3" & .86"

* Ranger T 230-gr. (RA45T) @ 890 fps = 15.1" & .80"

* Golden Saber 230-gr. @ 885 fps = 15.0" & .79"

Well I went ahead and bought myself a christmas present today! I hope I can make it to the range this weekend. I was reading some other posts at rugerforums.com and they got me a little worried. I guess you will hear bad things about every gun and most of what I have read has been positive.

Thanks for the input guys! I will update the post after I have a chance to break it in!
