I am in the market for a new 7mm-08 for deer hunting. Is the Browning A-Bolt worth the extra money above a Savage 110?

No, not in my opinion.

I've five Savages at present, and I like them all, But I traded a .260 mogel 10 for a Micro A-Bolt in 7-08. I feel the Browning is a handier package...... Essex

I have both an A-bolt and a savage 10. I love the savage but the A-bolt is my favorite. I would say yes the expense is worth it. The A-bolt is super accurate (as is the savage) and the action is smooth as butter.

Everything about the A bolt is prettier and smoother. It probably won't shoot as accurately as the Savage. Though it surely will be accurate enough for deer hunting. How much is smooth and pretty worth?

Next question, how much more for the Tikka? The Sako? The Kimber?
Once you cross the $800 line, the options get interesting quick.....
