After shooting Glocks exclusively for about 12 years, I got wild hair and bought a 1911. A kimber custom II. My first trip to the range was phenomenal:D I was more accurate with my first 50 rounds than with the past 500 rounds in my GLock:eek: I had a smile from ear to ear for a week:D I think it boils down to the trigger. A nice short crisp trigger does wonders for my accuracy, that coupled with a nice heavy gun. I dunno, is it just me or have others had this same revelation?

It wasn't due to a lack of practice with GLocks either. I shoot at least once a month, usually more. I have practiced using the trigger reset, used a 3.5# connector, but I am still more accurate with the 1911. I'm in love.;)

So much so that yesterday I bought a STI Ranger II.:D I'll follow up in a couple of days with a range report.

Excellent!

BTW, what Glock were you shooting before getting the Kimber 1911?

I am glad to hear that about Kimber. My friend has both Glocks and Kimbers and swears by his Kimber. One other point that you made in your comment that is particularly important is the accessories. I think some people purchase a gun, go to the range, and feel mildly satisfied. I have found success when you evaluate the pros and cons and then seek remedies with accessories. These can be anything from sights upgrades to grips, springs, etc. The initial purchase is not the end but the beginning.

I was a longtime SA fan from the 80s and still am. However, I finally purchased a Kimber Tactical Pro II. Now I am a SA and Kimber fan.

Falcon Industries Ergo Grips + Pearce Rubber Finger Groove Insert Grip = what you see on my Desert Warrior. Both are available from MidwayUSA, which is where I got them. The Ergo Grips have a skateboard-tape texture and work great.

If I'm going into battle I'm carrying this.
16 rounds in a flush mag 1 in the chamber.

I do miss the feel of that Kimber though, I think I'll take it to the range next time. I'm so confused.
