Alright, this seems like a great place to ask a question that's been on my mind for a while now.

I am an unabashed AK guy. I love all of Mikhiel Kalishnikov's creations.

That being said, why are Polytech legends so darn expensive? Are they that much superior to a MAK 90, a SAR, or any of the other AK variants?

If not..then again, why the huge price tag? I'd love to get one...but if it doesn't shoot any better than other AKs then I think I will have to reconsider that idea.

They were imported for only two years before the 1989 import ban cut them off, which limits the number in the US (they don't import Chinese AKs anymore). The Polytech Legend was built on the original AK-47 specs with side-folding or under folding stocks and were made using a milled receiver while the other "AK"s at that time were based on the Chinese AKM (Type 56) and used stamped receivers.

It really has more to do with colllecting them than shooting them. At the range, it's just another Ak.
