I'm looking for a High Capacity .45 acp gun in the 14+ round range. I've found a few by Para-Ordnance and one buy Springfield, any body have any other suggestions? They can be guns sold with only 10 round mags if there is an exisitng high capacity after market magazine available. Thanks for your help.

Two more 1911s. If you are not offended by a hybrid steel / plastic frame, then you can check them out:

- Bul M5 (http://www.bultransmark.com) - Kimber takes their frame and mates it to a Kimber slide and markets the result as the Kimber Ten (http://www.kimberamerica.com/ten.php) series. Charles Daly (http://www.charlesdaly.com/html/products/firearms/pistols/1911/bulm5.asp) also imports the M5. You can load the magazines to 14, but somehow the magazines that Kimber sells have been modified to 13. There are various accounts on the web about the frame's compatibility/incompatibility with Para magazines.

- STI (http://www.stiguns.com) / SVI (http://www.sviguns.com) 2011 - Magazines come in three sizes, 126mm, 140mm, and 170mm, and they are expensive. According to the STI website (http://www.stiguns.com/cart/aboutmags.html), it'll hold 12, 16, 20 rounds of .45 acp, respectively.

if price were any consideration go get a RIA hi-cap. inexpensive but very well built. also compatible with PARA MAGS. and if only NORINCO made their hi-caps compatible with aftermarket double stack magazines i would get them too. but of cors if youve got money to burn go get the hi-end ones.

I have had several hi-cap 1911s. Reliability was so-so. Be prepared for some tweaking should you get one. I ended up going with a Glock 21 for my hi-cap 45 needs due to this. It has run without fail through box after box of ammo, and I have yet to clean it. It has sort of become a challenge to me to make it hang up.

:)

I also owned a USP in 45, and found it a superb weapon. I like the feel of the 21 better and it is a little smaller, but the H&K was more accurate. 12 rounders for the H&K are a bit expensive. You likely will find the Glock 21 has the cheapest readily available hi-caps. I gave around $15-$20 for each of my mags (used versus new). At 13 rounds they hold plenty of ammo, and one can add extensions to take the capacity up. My HD load is 15+1 rounds 230gr JHPs. That with an M3 hanging on the front makes for plenty of confidence when things go bump in the night.
