I recently got some new grips from Kim Ahrends... these are Morado wood (aka Moradillo, Pau Ferro, Brazillian Rosewood - though they aren't technically a "true" rosewood). These are in smooth square butt configuration which I ordered unfinished and gave my usual Teak Oil hand rubbed finish. The standard finish Ahrends provides is a poly finish which has a shinier, deeper look. I just like the natural oil finish myself, which has a softer, flatter look than the poly finish. You can order them finished or unfinished as you prefer directly from Ahrends. I think these grips, in this wood have a really classy look and the muted brown tone is especially complimentary to stainless guns.

Hey, I bet those would look pretty slick on my old 686!

gb... Yes, they would look great on stainless. I have cocobolo grips on all of my 686 models at present, but now that I have some Morado grips, I think the chocolate brown Morado (more subdued and less red in color) actually look better on stainless than cocobolo does. When I get a chance, I'll create some pics with the Morado grips on a stainless gun.
