dont know, probably ok but why do you need it? i think the only thing youd be protecting against would be rust. the gun has to be pretty damp/wet to get rusty.

Unnecessary. just give it a good cleaning every once in a while (field strip, lube, degrease), and wipe it off with a clean piece of cloth, and it'll be fine
