I want to buy a plinker - what do I need to be looking for? What's important?

Get something fun to fire like the Walther p22 or the Ruger MarkII
The Walther you can get for around $ 200 to $ 250 and the Ruger is around the $300 range :)

Walther P22 is a really fun plinker. (break it in with 500 rnds of CCI minimags, or a box of bulk Rem Goldens; then you can fire std vel.)

I just picked up a Ruger MKIII and couldn't be happier with it. I've had jamming problems with a Browning Buckmark and my friend's S&W 22A jams constantly, too.

The only problem I've heard of from Walther P22 owners is that they don't like cheap, standard velocity ammo. I know one guy at the club that has to shoot nothing but CCI Velociters in his. That's expensive .22 plinking if you ask me.

At a reasonable price, and from my experiences, the Rugers are the only ones that will function reliably with all kinds of ammo.
