Thanks for all your posts on previous messages. Mauser nostalgia won out in the end. I placed an order today for a Ruger M77 chambered in 7x57mm Mauser. Will mount a Leupold 3-9x40 Vari-X II on it.

Should fill the bill nicely for Eastern whitetails, and a nice complement to the M38 Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55 that I recently acquired. Just gotta get a taller front sight post installed...

That Rugilator oughta treat you real good! If it's the Mk II, the Timney trigger is a very good and easy-installation deal.
