How does one know if a gun is legal in California or not? I wish to purchase a Saiga .410 shotgun but have been hinted to that it is illegal....It only comes with a 4 round clip! Why are some guns allowed and others not? Thanks....

Unfortunately, the Saiga is banned. It was banned by name along with other AK type weapons. Sorry :(

Bingo!

It's considered an AW in the PRK. :(

That detachable mag inclusion is an absolute killer. I would love to get a lever action gun with a detachable mag, but no. It makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

Oh, well onward with my search.

It seems that my best option for a cheap, inexpensive to shoot rifle, that would work in a SHTF scenario, as well as being fun to shoot is boiling down to either an SKS, or a lever action.

pittspilot,

There is no prohibition for lever action firearms with detachable magazines. The assault weapon provisions only apply to semiautomatic firearms.

The Valtro shotgun is mag-fed, but you still pump to load. Therefore, it is CA-certified.

You are correct.

I am having fits deciding what Rifle to buy, and misread the statute
