Kar98K issue parts

Getting a Kar98k from Aim pretty soon and I have a question.

Did most Kars have the cleaning rod and front site hood installed? By far most of the pictures I have seen show one or both missing even through both can be easily found on the open market. Is there any logic to this?

I have been doing LOTS of surplus 98K homework as I look to buy one in the next week or so. My understanding of the AIM surplus rifles is that they are Soviet WW2 captures that have been reblued & exported. There is nothing wrong with that, but most of the peripherals ( sight hoods, cleaning rods, bayonets) are either parted out or were never availible to the Russkies to begin with. There are some beautiful examples of 98K's out there now, I am personally torn between the Yugo M48 & the AIM original. My budget this pay period says it is more likely I'll get the M48, but an AIM is in my future as I do want an original.
