I have an opportunity to buy a Star model B, or a Star model B "super," either for 195 dollars. The old model B has the box with it, and appears to be 50 or so years old. The model B super is newer, and in about 95% condition.

Are these pistols (chambered in 9mm) any good? I've never owned one before. What about parts availability?

Thanks,

Dan Newberry

Go to www.cruffler.com and look in their archives. They have a test report on these. The Star pistols are mechanically different from the 1911 although they appear similar. They are quite well made and rugged.

You guys really answered the call, and fast! Thanks for all the information and links. I'm going to let it all digest, and decide on which of the the two pistols to purchase.

Take care,

Dan
