I'm looking at a pre-ban Springfield M1A NM w/ sling, case and two 20 round mags for $1,500.00.

The rifle is on consignment and appears to be in new condition. The original owner supposedly had one of everything and let this rifle sit in his safe until he finally decided to sell.

I've never bought a used rifle before and I'm completely new to M1A's. Is this a good deal and is there anything I should look for before buying it?

Thanks.

Personally, I feel that Springfield asks too much for the rifle. In addition, I believe that $1500 is a bit high for the rifle. Used is used, and I am a tightwad.

You guys are right, thanks for the reality check.

I still want an M1A, but this one is too high in price. The guy will get it too, there are a lot of deep pockets in my neck of the woods.

I'll keep looking for a nice M1A... Hmmm, maybe an M1 Garand.

M1A or M1 Garand, that is a tough choice. Then there's the whole M1 Garand in 30.06 or .308 issue.
