I am going to go shooting in the Flinders Ranges, in South Australia soon. I currently have a 222 loaded with speer 52gr HPBT, loaded to about 3000fps. I find these punch through animals and don't do enough damage internaly.

for the shooting I am going to do, shooting feral goats, I will need a bit more knockdown power and was thinking of using Nosler Ballistic Tip bullets but I am unsure whether 55gr will be too heavy for the 222. I was originally thinking of buying another gun, but decided to see how the 222 went before I did this.

can anyone suggest any loads to give a bit more knockdown power.

If it's more rapid expansion your loking for I'd try a Hornandy 55 grain A-Max. But before you do that how big are these goats. If they are what I think theyt are a .222 using A-Maxes should knock the stuffing right out of them.
If your reloading you can get a load that'll launch them at 3100 FPS with 26 grains of win 748. Warning 26.4 GRAINS IS THE MAX LOAD.
