Mossberg 500A

I picked up a used Mossberg 12ga a while back. I know it is older than I am by a bit, but was wondering how old it was. I suspect that it would be hard to tell, since it was made before '68 (no serial number). Is there any way I can find out when it was made?

I think they started making the 500 in 1962, so that narrows it down some.
