I´ve been thinking of one of these babies for quite a while now. In 30-06! Maybe carbine model w 18" barell. My question is; Is the gas-operated reloading mechanism adjustable? If not, how light loads can you shoot without the reloading geting screwed? Say is it posible to shoot bullets/loads as light as 110-120grains? Or will the action cease to cycle the next round because of insufficient gas-pressure?

It does not have an adjustable gas system. However, it will function with any factory load from 110 gr to 220 gr loads without a hitch. I prefer the standard length barrel rather than the carbine.

I have a 742, which is the predecessor to yours and I regularly shoot 110, 125, 165, and 180 gr handloads in it and they have always functioned it perfectly.

I have a 7400 Carbine Synthetic.
Short bbl. / .30-06
I LOVE this rifle!
The whole combination is just the right size for a handy and very powerful rifle.

We discussed this a while back:

The Carbine can be quite accurate enough.
If that's the itch; scratch it!

P.S. I'm 1/4 Swede, so you know I'm telling the Truth.:D

I'm like Bottom Gun, other than my 742 is in .308. It functions perfectly, even when I've shot some old military, grungy stuff in it.

Works for me. J.B.
