IIRC, it's a Filipino form of stick fighting.

Escrima
Was in the JKD form of Escrima in the late 60's until a year or so ago. Lot of indentations on the bones from the practice, but got a nice flowing rhythm to my hand movements.
Course my family based that on my Hawaiian up bringing. |

I do. We call it arnis, but it's just different names for the same thing. I walk around the house all day twirling a stick. Cooking, reading, relieving myself, off hand twirling a stick or knife.

PreserveFreedom, escrima is a name for the Filipino Martial Arts (FMA). Arnis is also used, as is the older kali.
Escrima/arnis/kali is/are very effective, very efficient, very beautiful fighting skills. Stylists traditionally train first in the use of sticks, then transitioning to knives and finally adapting the skills to empty hands. This page should give you a start on learning about this art: http://www.geocities.com/Athens/Pantheon/5640/ LawDog
