Lara Croft: Tomb Raider-Guns used?!?
Just got back from seeing the new Lara Croft Tomb Raider movie. My question to whoever has seen it---What type of semi-auto handguns does she use in the movie? Are they real or fake? And what type of rifles to powell and his crew use? Thanks....

She uses a HK USP match. For some more info, go to www.hkpro.com they have a good bit on the USP guns. I think I heard that those guys use HK G36 rifles, and you can look that up on HKPRO too.

The guns are Heckler & Koch USP Match pistols in .45ACP. Several modifications were made for the guns in the film, including an ambi slide release, a jetfunnel from the USP Tactical, and some cosmetic adjustments. Obviously the reloading mag carrier system was also specially made.
Now, of course, it will become impossible to find these hard-to-find guns at a reasonable price.

I thought she used a Desert Eagle. Regardless Angelie Jolie has a pair of .38 specials that are without compare. Boom Boom.

In one of the posters hanging up at our local theater, they show a close up of the USP. Sorry guys, it is a 9mm, says so on the slide, looks like the compensator attached. I thought it was a match also.

Right on target, Archer1440 except it's a USP Match in 9mmx19 with those mods. BTW the USP Match 9mm is something HK dosn't feel Americans need...but I have heard that people have managed to get them here....so maybe HK Sterling imported some over...but I don't think they did...so the ones in the states are probably not HK imports.

IIRC, the extension at the end of the slide is a barrel/frame (not directly attatched to the barrel) weight and not a compensator. It is just made to match the slide profile. The sides are like protective dog-ears around the extended barrel.

thanks for the info!----btw, did it seem to anyone else that those handguns had unusually large magazines? As in, she shot many, many shots and still had more ammo left...

yup
they definitely are HK USP match in 9mm---
http://www.hkpro.com/uspmatch.htm Apparently the ones in Europe are available with 15 round magazines, so that would explain why it seems like she had an unlimited supply of ammo. Marc

If you check the link that .357SIG posted you will also find that the pistols used had a jet funnel attachment. Currently the only mags that work with this attachment are (at least that I am aware of) either the translucent polymer 18 rd. 9mm or I have heard that some owners are making STI?(I believe) mags work which also carries a large number of rounds.

denfoote-they were absolutely NOT mark23s I believe that another character (Lara's former lover) had a mark23. But the pistols everyone is referrring to here are modified USP Matches used by Angelina Jolie(Lara Croft).

Yes, they were USP Match pistols - I looked in the "Tomb Raider Technical Manual" or some such book at the store the other day. Naturally the book doesn't give any real information, just has pictures of all the gear and some quotes from the movie...btw, was the movie any good???

The movie in my opinion wasn't my cup of tea but had enough eye candy to keep me happy
Of course I think that was the whole purpose of the movie...so why am I complaining. Oh, my little cousin, 14 year old, I took to that movie for my aunt...free movie for me...seemed to really like it...so I guess it reached it's target audience.

If you look closely at the pictures in the "Technical Manual" you see the USP Matches are clearly makrked "9mm x 19."

Not to get too far off topic, but a certain periodical has a picture of Pam Anderson with a pink Desert Eagle.

Saw the movie, and I'd bet the farm the badguys were using G36's. They looked like the G36K actually. But as was mentioned, definitely USP Match's in 9X19. And as was also mentioned, there was a jet funnel attachment. I think the main reason for using the 9mm is that they are more reliable with blanks, which allows for fewer re-shoots (pun intended). Hollywood tends to us 9mm when they can for this reason. The reason for using Match's as far as I can tell, is that they look badass. Who honestly uses a target pistol as a combat gun? But anyway. The primary reason for seeing the movie is Angelina Jolie, not the guns. Too bad it's PG-13.

Guns? She was carrying guns? Now you tell me, I never got that far...
Aside from her obvious physical attributes, that woman has got a grin that would shame a mink out of it's pelt.
