Any ideas? With stock prices low we could all buy some shares and support a good company.

Ruger is publicly traded. Symbol RGR. Right now it's at 9.84. It usually stays pretty level. IIRC the last six months or so has seen it between around 8 1/2 to 10 1/2 or 11.

Something you might want to consider. Olin [oln] makers of Winchester ammo. It's on NYSE.

Actually I believe most gun companies are privately owned. I remember watching some speech on c-span a few years back, from this idiot who was at the center of trying to sue gun manufacturers. He was talking about how it was hard to find financial records for gun manufacturers because they were all privately owned except for Ruger. I think its just one of those traditions of the industry. The gun industry hasn't really changed all that much since the 19th century in its practices, at least here in America.

Short list of who owns gun manufacturers

Here's a short list that I've compiled of some of the companies.

Code:
American Derringer Corp. (ownership unknown)
Beretta I think privately owned by Ugo Gussalli Beretta & his two sons
Colt private investor group headed by an anti-gun nut
Glock headed by Gaston Glock but don't know if privately owned or not
Heckler & Koch wholly owned by British Aerospace
Ruger publicly traded stock - NYSE: RGR
Smith & Wesson wholly owned by Tomkins PLC
SigArms Formerly owned by SIG Swiss Industrial Company Holding Ltd., not sure who owns it now
Taurus (ownership unknown)

We had to analyse a publicly traded company of our choice for my MBA finance class. The only one that was gun related was Ruger. Did you know that they also make the Big Bertha golf clubs?

I decided to write my analysis on Barnes and Noble, for reasons that I won't go into here. But if you're looking for Ruger financial statements, they'll mail them to you quickly. The lawsuits against the gun manufacturers had depressed the stock price according to the last annual report I read.
