DIY gun case build

didn't see a more relevant thread, so sorry in advance if it's placed improperly.

I want to build a gun case/cabinet. I've rapidly gained too many guns in the last year and want to make a nice wooden case (unsure if it will be display or not with glass) that lockable.

However, the trick here is I don't want to use a key lock. In a "oh sh*t" situation, I want myself and my lady to quickly be able to get into it using a secret door release, like a button on the back. This way it is securely locked and only we know where the release is.

anyone ever done something like this?

Wouldn't you be worried about theft, with such an easy cabinet for thieves to break into?

Build the case as you like it then put a lock on the door and maybe even a secure cable lock through the guns inside. You would probably be better off keeping your home defense gun hidden close to where you sleep rather than forcing yourself to get up and pull a gun from the cabinet in an emergency situation. God forbid any thieves try breaking the glass on your fancy cabinet you can call 911 and get your HD gun out while they are fighting to get the guns free from the cable lock.

Back in the late sixties and just returned from Vietnam and living in inner city Chicago bought a glass gun case that had lights so I could be seen from the street when people walked by. Never had a problem but time have change.
