I need a different type of powder recommendation

Hello all,

I am loading my 9x23 with WST currently, and it is an excellent powder. I use 6.8 gr of WST to drive a 124 gr JFP slug for target shooting. However, it fills the case to the point that I must compress the powder.

What I am trying to do is find a powder that will allow me to drive this slug, and perhaps a JHP to higher velocities. Basically, a powder that will take up less space in the cartridge but provide high velocities. Maybe I need to go to a powder that is used in the 357 Magnum?

I have successfully loaded several, but I am curious about your recommendations. I have no doubts that you guys can provide me with information to improve my loads.

Full case is good. Why mess with it? If you're wanting more velocity, perhaps Alliant (gee, I miss Hercules!) Power Pistol will do it for you.

I've also heard that WSF is quite good for hot loads--IIRC!

What type of gun is it and what barrel are you useing.

Casey,

Take a look at VV 3N37 or Vectan SP2. I had good success loading 175PF ammo with 3N37 in a 38Super. Perhaps these 2 powders will work equally well in the 9x23 for you.

I think that I might just try the Power Pistol.

The gun is a Colt Custom 1911, with a BarSto barrel.

Try AA#9 or AA#7 both rock in 38super.
