Ok this makes me sick. Two boys age 10 tortured and killed a 2 year old boy in England. They tried to conseal their crime.. Now that they are 18, they are being released, being give NEW names, new passports, and have the media BANNED from covering the story,

Only in the UK!!!

http://abcnews.go.com/sections/wnt/W...r_feature.html

In a scene captured by security cameras, they abducted James from a mall and led him to a railroad track, where they tortured the toddler and then beat him to death.
James' mother, Denise Fergus, can hardly bear to think about it.

“You mustn’t forget that they tortured my baby before they killed him,” she says. “And then they tried to cover their tracks by laying his body across a railway line, as if it was accident — so a train would hit him.”

Now, Thompson and Venables are 18, and their sentences are over. This summer, they will be set free, most likely within 100 miles of where the murder took place.

To help them blend into society, a British court ruled Monday that the youths will be given new identities and new passports, and the media will be prohibited from revealing anything about their new lives. It’s unprecedented protection for convicted murderers.

The protections were granted in part because of fears for their safety, as the anger directed at the teens for the crime they committed eight years ago is still strong. British courts cited the teens’ “serious risk of attacks from … the public … and relatives and friends of the murdered child” as justification for their decision. James Bulger’s father allegedly threatened last year to hunt down and kill his son’s murderers.

Has the Court Overstepped Its Bounds?

But there are also many people who believe the justice system is going too far to protect James Bulger’s killers.

“The precedent that it sets is that basically, if you can show that you are in danger from other people, that you will be given anonymity, the court will allow you to exist in our society without the media having a right to identify you,” says Marcus Parington, a media lawyer.

Juvenile justice experts in the United States say Americans would never tolerate such protections for criminals.

“I think people would be shocked,” says Vincent Schiraldi of the Justice Policy Institute. “I think there would be calls for the impeachment of the judge, and I think there would be laws passed to never let it happen again.”

With the killers soon to be set free, James’ mother is frightened. She believes her son’s murderers could kill again, and now she may never know where they are.

“I don’t want to be walking around a shopping center, to think that they’re in that same shopping center as me, because I’ve got three boys now and I’m trying to protect them,” she says

I've given up trying to figure out what's going on over in the UK.
I believe that Mad Cow disease is far more widespread over there than anyone suspects!

Have the Brit press ALL become spineless lapdogs of the Brit government, so easily controlled? If so, can the Brit government control the press in the rest of Europe? Can they control offshore websites?

I hope - I mean, I really, really hope - that these two examples of feral youth have their shield of anonymity pierced.

I wonder what the preferred English method for torturing 2yos is?

In Sierra Leone they just cut off their arms with machetes.

The English don't have a first ammendment, they have an unwritten understanding that they have the freedom of speech. Because of this nature of their laws, ANY story or news event can be censored or even totaly squashed.

By their laws the papers have to obey the courts gag order without question. It's just the way it is over there. The Government thinks that it's best for the people or nation for somthing to get squashed, it gets squashed no questions asked.

I'm furious. UK is so bass-ackwards protecting these sociopaths so carefully. What protection did the victim get?

The US is slowly approaching the same situation, where criminals have more rights than victims. Gues what that'll do to the crime rate? Thank heaven for "shall issue" states.

Surely some decent person in the criminal justice system will leak the new info to the father of the child--I know I would.

Gee, you know, age progression technologies are wonderful....

Anybody have a picture of these two monsters?

Shouldn't be too hard to give people an idea of what they look like now.

Unless, the UK idiots in charge think to pay for plastic surgery.....
