My 'new' 20 year old 6 1/2" Single Six Convertible appears to be shooting substantially better with Winchester 40 grain Magnum HP's than it does with Federal 36 grain LR's, an old accuracy standby for me. The Mags are holding a shade over 4" at 50 yards, about as well as I can do from field positions with the stock trigger. I'll correct that at the 1st opportunity and give it another go.

What are you doing to the trigger? I wouldn't mind if mine lost few pounds.

I reset the factory spring by hyper-extending it, give the sear and notch a light polish and reduce the sear depth until creep disappears. I'll probably fit a trigger stop to this one, if it shoots well enough to attain keeper status.

I've got a big set of Pachmayrs I'll slap on it long enough for some bench time, which will determine whether or not it's worth the effort.

I give all my new model Rugers the "poor boy trigger job", and it has improved every one (12 guns, currently) and never any trouble.

Some dislike it, some say its dangerous. I say it has worked very well for me for decades, and its simple, quick, and completely reversible if you don't care for the results.
