Here's my view of the PB match on Sunday. Silly, stupid mistakes. My dot was too bright on Stage 4 - Pushy and what I thought was my dot was actually the reflection artifact from having the dot too bright shining on the lens. That's why I missed that headshot from such a close distance.
and my weak hand is.... weak. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cOl9MryjNb0 |

It's a jplprecision.com 9mm major gun for the USPSA Open division. I've blogged about it here with lots of pics : http://gunbot.wordpress.com/2013/05/...sion-race-gun/

So bloody wet!! Rain came down on us like crazy today and we all got really wet. Shot a pathetic match today making lots of dumb mistakes. From light primer strikes, to being over confident with close shots. I think 30-40% of the time I didn't even bother looking at my dot. I need to work that bad habit out of my system. The only time I practiced good dot discipline was on that one stage I won.

Nothing is better than shooting a match for Charity. Toys for Tots is a great one to be able to support. Had a great time but it was super-cold and I'm totally blaming my lackluster performance on weather.
Even my camera refused to work on four of the stages. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sPj4eZimi38 |

We called our December 7 Reactive Steel Challenge and 8 December ICORE Matches. We have 12 Inches of snow at the range here in South Central Missouri.
I am looking forward to warmer weather again. Going down to 2 degrees tonight says the weatherman. Bob ICORE MO2908 |

First match after a two month long hiatus for the winter, and it shows. Slow, inaccurate, brain farts and beeper-amnesia.
Only redeeming thing is the squad I shot with. Great folks and good fun! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=naChjTtURHs |

Trying to build my speed back up after the long hiatus, and at a cost of course

I wore my London Fog
Most wore rain gear; a few tried umbrellas but the wind was too strong.
Guns and gear get soaked. Hands are wet and cold, and sodden handwarmers don't work. Targets are bagged, and difficult to paste. As noted, I shot from concealment. And of course, it was our special Classifier match, with four Classifier stages and one field course. Heavy rain means scores suffer. 49 shooters showed up; we have a vibrant club. www.GMPSVT.com I shot L10 Minor, and was 13th overall!!! A33102

splash!
Mags brushes are mandatory
Observers watch where mags get dropped so they don't get lost in the mud or puddles.

Every year one club in our section will run an all classifier match just before the season gets underway so folks can get classified for the big Area & National matches.
I only had one good stage, the rest were really sucky. Looks like I'm stuck at M http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4RmmYTG6fY |

I thought I did pretty good in this match. I shot with TimR who pushed me a little bit. I just need to get used to this ragged speed so I can be more consistent. I won a number of stages but bombed two which made me lose 50-60 points. Overall, I'm happy.

A friend and GM told me just before the match started to shoot all Alphas. It's fun to hose but it's more fun to win. I think he's right! I didn't get all Alphas but did get 93% of all scores.

Great stages! High round count (211rnds) and very tight and varied positions. It was a good match but I got my head working against me again. Need to find a way to shutdown the noise and play. This is one of the Northwest Series matches where we all earn points and get a chance to earn slots to the Nationals (plus some cash). Can't wait for next one in Renton.

What can I say. Bombed two stages and pretty much took me out of the race. I had 5 other great stages with three stage wins but the two setbacks cost me 100+ points.
I don't usually load up my magazines to 29+1 because I don't want to stress my plastic grip and cause another crack but it was definitely useful for me in the 30 round Stage 2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jNTInlSPs3s |

The Northwest Challenge is a fabulous Level II USPSA match held by the Northwest Section at the Paul Bunyan Rifle Club in Puyallup, WA. It's been a while since we had a match like this. Thanks to the hard work put in by Scott Pries and his group of volunteers, we got to shoot one of the most fun matches in a while. You can find out more about the series of matches and clubs in the section here : http://northwestsection.org
