Savage model 42

Looking for a first shotgun for my kids ages 6 to 10. I stopped by Gander mtn and looked at the savage 42 410/22. Wanted to know if that was a good shotgun with the bonus is the .22. Or does anyone have a better choice for a light weight shotgun for starters

I like the 42, its a great squirrel/rabbit gun. If they ever want to hunt turkey the 42 will be illegal in most states (don't know about TX) because of the .22lr. Another good one is the Mossberg 510 mini. Its available in .410 or 20 ga

This thread would do better in the shotgun forum
