AR 15 Scopes

Hey All,

On the hunt for a sight for my new AR15. I've heard good things about eotech, aim point and trijicon but have always relied on the forums advice for most brutally honest insight. With this in mind was curious what sights you all were using and any feedback you might have. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

IMHO, an AR15's effective range makes it a better candidate for a 1-4x or 2-7x scope. Check out the nutnfancy video on youtube.

It really depends on what range and how fast you want to engage your targets. At 100yds or less I would go with a Eotech or a Aimpoint if I were looking for a defensive weapon. For any kind of precision past 100yds I would go with a scope I prefer a 4-16x50mm but that's just me.

AR 15 Scopes

I was thinking more defensive less than 100 yards and was contemplating getting a magnifier for ranges past that 100 yard mark. Was really leaning towards an eotech but god knows what model type etc.

I have the Aimpoint PRO on one of my ARs and for me I like the simplicity of a single red dot I find most of the Eotech reticles kind of "busy"

I love the reticle of eotech, but have heard it has some issues "supposedly" in brightness situations that you need to adjust for and has by far inferior battery life to that of aimpoint. I was looking hard at getting the eotech xps2 or eotech 556 but am now torn between those and the aimpoint t1

If you can spare the bucks, get what you want. If you really want to shoot long range, get a good scope for it.

Jim

This is a 2-7X32 mm

A 4-16x42mm use what ever you like

beautiful looking setup you got there, I just got the AR15 about a week ago and have been going a bit nuts researching everything I can get added to it, like the idea of being able to get the eotech xps2 (which I like a lot) with a magnifier accessory I can add to it for better range.

The Eotechs are "fast as a rattlesnake an twice as deadly". Don't get tricked into buying a Chinese fake. Brownell's just came out with it's own version of an Eotech, but I don't know who manufactures it. I would get the one with the 2, one m.o.a. sized dots within the large outer laser circle. After you power on...you will have to increase laser intensity on bright days; but will not blind you when you turn it on at nighttime. Do not buy any cheap knock-off brands of 3x magnifiers.

I have an Eotech 552, Burris 332 and a Burris XTR 1-4X --- with a Burris Fastfire Red Dot mounted on one of the top mounts.

I like them all.

Definitely going to go with the Eotech xps2-0 sight and have been looking at the quick detach mount by LaRue Tactical.

first lets settle on scope or sight.., OK ?

if you want a sight, go with one of these name brands.

for "SIGHTS" i have EOTech and Trijicon on GG&G quick change mounts, plus some variations of "IRONS" !

if it is a scope you want, go with a recognized name brand, a good variable power should meet your needs in all situations.

for "SCOPES" i have NightForce, Weaver, and two others (made in Japan) that i can not think of their name as they get used very little.., but are very reliable, all are on GG&G Q.C. mounts.

The sight I am going for is the eotech xps2-0. I was thinking once I get the sight and get a good feel for it that if I needed more distance I could go for a magnifier as well.

I love the EOTech reticle, but I prefer the durability and battery life of the Aimpoint RDS

If possible, I suggest that you try shooting a rifle equipped with RDS and a magnifier before buying one... make sure you like it.

AR 15 Scopes

Actually ended up going with an eotech xps2-0. Saw a durability test of someone bashing it against a tree, shooting it with shot gun, dropping out of car etc and the sight maintained zero. I love the reticle of it. Thank you all for your help!
