In the first post the OP states he wants a 40SW or 45ACP because he can't find 9mm ammo. My comments would be that I think you're going to start seeing it come back in stock a bit. A lot of the local gun stores near me are getting it in weekly now. It still sells out on Sat, but it can be had. I also don't find it to be that much more out of stock than say 40SW or 45ACP and given that I think the demand for the 9mm is a bit higher I think that is one of the major priorities for ammo manufacturers right now.

But, if you still want something other than 9mm, I'd vote for 45ACP.
Know the status of your weapon
Keep your muzzle oriented so that no one will be hurt if the firearm discharges
Keep your finger off the trigger until you have an adequate sight picture
Maintain situational awareness

Sigs are going to run you a bit. That glock is looking pretty tempting, although a lot of guns are really expensive right now anyway. If you are thinking of carrying it then consider weight as well and the glock is polymer framed. You'll have a great gun no matter what.
