220 Swift loads

I finally found a some what decent load useing a hornady 50gr v-max bullet and IMR-4320. I've tryed IMR-4895, IMR-4350 And hodgdon H380. I would of liked to try IMR-4064 but for now this will have to do. I'm going to work up a load for some 40gr v-max next and then maybe some 55gr SP. I've also got some 52gr BTHP's. Any body ever try any of these with good results.

In my experience, IMR-4064 always worked best in the Swifts I've known or owned. The load I'm using today for my Ruger 77V is 37 grains behind a 52 grain Sierra seated .005" off the lands. Of course this is my load for my rifle. * When reloading for your rifle, work up cautiously. *

IMR 4064 is a great powder for the 220 Swift, and is arguably the best in that caliber, though Reloader 15 can also be argued for these days.

Years ago I read that a load that all 220's loved was 38.5 gr of IMR 4064 behind a 55 gr bullet. I worked up to that load and shot some really tiny groups. That is my load now and has been for 30-odd years.

H380 and 4064 is all I ever used in my Swift. Both very accurate.
