A little humor for the gun debate

http://www.cracked.com/quick-fixes/t...lence-by-dogs/

I thought this was pretty funny. I had no idea there were so many instances like this. I had heard about a man being shot by a snake, but not a dog. Usually its the other way around.

I love Cracked

Unfortunately this kind of thing seems to happen fairly often around here. There was an an incident back around 2009 where a man had a loaded handgun on the counter and supposedly the dog got excited and knocked it off the table. I wonder what kind of handgun that could be that would go off when dropped.

I have also heard of an instance where a man shot a fox and wounded but didn't kill it. He decided that the best way to finish it off was to bludgeon it (obviously) with the butt of his rifle and the fox, fighting back, got its paw stuck in the trigger guard and shot the man in the leg.

EDIT: Also, perhaps you might want to add more discussion (I'm not sure what) but in it's current state this is looking like a drive-by and I'd hate to see this get shut down but the OP probably isn't sufficient as is.

Ivan the police dog startled himself when he recovered a stolen gun from the snow - and also managed to fire it.

Ivan accidentally pulled the trigger with his paw, firing the loaded semi-automatic pistol into a family home.

Police had sent German Shepherd Ivan to investigate the snow at 2am on Sunday after an officer on patrol heard three gunshots in Lawrence, Massachusetts, and saw a vehicle speed away.

Police had seen Jose Calderon, 28, jump out of a car, and burying something in the snow so they set Ivan to work finding out what he had thrown away.

Ivan was digging furiously through the snow looking for anything suspicious when in a freak accident he managed to pull the trigger

Police Chief John Romero said the dog was startled after the shot, but otherwise was fine.

Yeah, I'm sure that's Ivan's story. The department brass will close ranks and make sure Ivan is protected, and the public will never know the REAL TRUTH.

Firearms training for police dogs is woefully inadequate, and I am continually shocked by the apathetic and careless attitude they display about guns. I mean, have you ever seen them shoot? The average German Shepherd is lucky if he can get 3 out of 10 rounds in the 10-ring on a static range. And don't get me started on muzzle discipline. Yikes!

This is why I've had the talk with my dog. She knows that when seconds count, a police dog is minutes away. She knows that she's responsible for her own safety, and we drill with firearms on a regular basis.

It's a slow process, and I may have incurred a few injuries, but it's coming along.

Is it sad that I find Tom's admonition about canine firearm training funnier than Cracked?

I used to really like Cracked, still read it everyday, but beneath thier thin veneer of humor, they really do targeted guns. Hard.

Today they listed the printed AR- lower as one of the most terrifying things to come from a 3-D printer.

It really is a cultural challenge.

Tom, you're a lucky guy to have such a responsible dog -- clearly you've raised her right.

Mine is a rescue, and I've never been able to get her interested in shooting. But I don't have to worry about leaving her alone with guns, either: she's so gun-shy that she goes upstairs if I so much as have one out to clean it.

It is a bit of a terrifying thing. That's why it's good. It terrifies the right people.

I love reading cracked articles everyday... however every time they attempt to tackle politics or any cultural topic their true colors show. Then the laughter stops. The only time I've seen them say anything about guns that wasn't "negative" was when they said how they hated people who said they didn't own guns because they didn't trust themselves with them, implying that the only thing stopping that person from committing crime and murder was lack of a murder weapon haha.

Yeah, but they also were the site to publish "4 Most Meaningless Arguments against Gun Control."

Love the site, dislike the guy who wrote that article.

Another article from Cracked, it's nice to see it has neither an anti-gun premise or a neutral premise. http://www.cracked.com/article_20396...t-guns_p2.html

I just realize I could've been shot by a deer I killed... he ran about 40yds and I was standing over him about to put him down when he flopped and kicked the rifle out of my hands ... This might be the most embarrassing thing I've ever put on the Internet.

A decorated Marine veteran was killed today by an enraged deer. Local animal rights groups are strangely silent on the matter.....

Xero, Pop has a similar t-shirt. Classic.

Yep....just another small slice of the pie that constitutes the huge conspiracy to have DHS trained dogs attack innocent Americans in their homes under the ruse of a "accidental" shooting. Odds are, the officers used the "Investigation" under the premise of recovering the fired bullet to seek and record the numbers and types of firearms in the home for future confiscation.
