Around here there have been instances where a person has been run off the road and shot as well and things of that nature which prompted the decision. The state law is quite clear on what I can do with it (It has to be in a container where a lid or restraining device has to be removed, including a snap-on holster) although it's a great point that I should figure out a way to secure it when I won't be in the car and fully think through all of the responsibilities and possibilities.

if you acknowledge that mak is better because it could be stolen from your care, you acknowledge a gun can be stolen from your car.

That is admitting an irresponsible decision. blah blah blah, it's your right. Got it. but you should be responsible to others too.

I think that's why they were advising me to re-think that method of carry or revise it and make sure I've taken good security measures first.
