Glock 21, Gen 2 bought yesterday.

Hi all. So I just picked up a Glock 21, Gen 2. It was a police trade and seems like a pretty solid firearm. Today, I managed to buy another Glock factory made 13 round magazine for $30 at a gun show. While the price for the magazine was not great, it was $10 cheaper than the next cheapest dealer.

Anyway, I was wondering if there is anything in particular I should be looking out for with the Glock 21. I am looking forward to taking it to the range ASAP. My two 1911s are pretty much safe queens. I just hate dirtying them up. The 1911s must be the most, aesthetically, pleasing, semi auto. handgun ever made. My Ruger SR1911 has less than 100 rounds through it. My Colt 1911 has none fired through it.

I am expecting the Glock 21 to do all the heavy lifting as far as the .45s go. Well, until I get the Kahr CW45 which will be a CCW weapon.

Love that gun! Just make sure you don't limp wrist it and you'll really enjoy it. Mine always prefered the hotter loads.

Take it out and shoot it. You have a GREAT gun. It will never be a 1911 but it will work just fine. Soft recoil and fun to shoot. The stock trigger can be made better but will never equal a 1911. As for your 1911s being safe queens. . .take them along and spread the wealth. They are not doing you any good being kept in the dark.

My 2 cents and worth every penny.

I'll never understand this mentality, no offense intended. It's a gun, it's meant to be shot. To me that's like the people who buy expensive sports cars and never drive them. What's the point of having it then? Just to look at it? Talk about it? Just not for me.

Thanks for all the responses folks. I am pretty hyped about the Glock. I will certainly make sure I do not limp wrist it.

As for the 1911s, oh eventually I will take them out again. Probably when I stop being in awe of them, and realize they are guns like any others. Of course it could take sometime for that notion to hit home. The sport's car analogy it is quite accurate, as is the comment about them not doing me any good left in the dark.

Very nice. I picked up my second Glock 21 last year. I already had a Gen 3, but I prefer the Gen 2's as I'm not a fan of the finger grooves or the accessory rails.

Since the pics were taken I have removed the old adjustable sights and replaced them with the regular OEM's and put a bit of bicycle inner tubing over the grip.

I am not a Glock fan, but it was the larger grip frame of the G21 that made me realize I needed a polymer frame .45 ACP. That was a good many years ago and I actually waited until SA released the XDm 4.5 in .45ACP and mine is perfect for me.

Before you buy a Kahr CW45, I would check out the SA XDs in .45 ACP. People that have them, love 'em. And as far as customer service goes, SA can't be beat.

I have a Glock 21 that I bought in 2003. No idea what generation that would be! I love the gun though, no Idea how many thousand rounds of how many different kinds of hardball and jhp ammo I've shot through it with ZERO malfunctions that could be blamed on the gun. It's the gun I used when I went through Massad Ayoob's LFI in 2004. The gun gives me great accuracy with Remington 185g+p Golden Sabers which are my carry load of choice for all my .45s. I have newer guns like Springfield XDs and XDMs and a gen4 G35 that I like alot but the G21 is still among my favorites.

Nice score!

The G21 are my favorite Glock pistols and the G36 is a nice addition.
