A 22 isn't enough. Maybe a 357 mag or 40 S&W, then a 308. That will do.

.22 LR may be enough at 50 yards, maybe even 100 yards, but 200? 300? |

AK and Glock 23.
I've got a light load for both, suitable for table fare or low noise signature problem solving.

![]() I don’t limit myself to hunting in Illinois. South Dakota helped me become a member of the Varmint Hunters of America 500 yard club. Wyoming helped with my 400+ yard Pronghorn kill. Wisconsin helped with a 300+ yard white tail kill. Back to Illinois. I got a real nice 9 point white tail, 3 measurment points away from making the record books with a .50 black powder rifle at 150 yards. Try any of that with a .22LR.

One handgun & One rifle
Assuming we are talking about normal life; I'd have to say S&W M57 (41 mag), and a Remington M541-S 22 rifle. When younger and hunted more, I would have said Colt Diamondback in 22 and Remington M700 in 270 win. A small carry gun is not my top priority.

For me it would be my Remington 700 .308 SPS Tac AAC suppressed,
and my Sig Sauer P250 .40 I like the Sig because of the no safety feature, its fast and fairly smooth, and as far as the remington, well who doesnt enjoy picking off targets from a safe distance lol...
