Gunbroker: S&W 4506 sells for $1450... Is this crazy?

Guys who have it are so lucky. If you ever wish to sell. PM me. Please.

WHAT? You mean it is worth something? I already traded it for two issues of National Geographic (you KNOW the ones I mean!) and a partially chewed stick of Blackjack.

Make a deal with you. Since my 4506-1 has been owned by a celebrity (me!), I'll let you have it for $3500, plus a small service fee...

OR maybe another 9mm vs. 45acp debate is more your flavor.
As opposed to what? Another "OMG...can you believe what (insert gun, ammo, magazine) is selling for?" discussion?

Things have been crazy in the firearm markets now for several months. EVERYTHING seems to be bring crazy prices. We've seen it before. We'll probably see it again. Calm down, and ride the storm. Things will either settle back down toward "normal" or the new prices will become the new "normal." Gas prices do it all the time. Fact of life.

What does it say for the RTKBA? That it will be expensive. It always has been. Sometimes it's been more expensive than at other times.

The slide better say "Mike Irwin" on it. If not, no deal.

While that price of that 4506 was indeed too high, I don't find it to be as "crazy" as some of the asking prices on the plastic junk being made today. $500 for a "shield" ?? Please.

A nice 4506-1 with box, docs and two or three mags brings $600 to $650 easily, locally. IF you can find one.

On the West coast I'm informed by my LAPD friends that the same 4506-1 with box, docs and three mags brings $1000, or a little more, depending on condition.

The 4506-1's were some of the nicest pistols to come out of S&W. One of the nicest DA 45's made by anyone IMO. There evidently won't be anymore as nice, at least from S&W anyway.

So.........you pay to play. Evidently somebody thought it was worth it. Regards 18DAI

I really like my 4506-1 but that price is insane. If this madness continues to escalate, my entire arsenal will be for sale.

I would wager that is going to be an unpaid auction.

I'll just copy and paste this from another post I made on a different forum.

I would advise people to just hold off on any buying until this whole joke blows over. Then there will be some good used deals to be had. If people are willing to pay these laughable prices then it will take the market that much longer to self adjust. Myself I'm just worried about primers, worse comes to worse I can always make my own bullets but primers are a little tougher.
