And yet another gun cleaning thread. More replies than usual, I wonder why.
I shot some higher end .22 target rifles at a club. We shot about 100 rounds a week from September thru May and cleaned them all at the end of May whether they needed cleaning or not . Seems that they shot fine from year to year.

Self defense guns get cleaned after every trip, my .22's probably get cleaned every 3 trips.
Some people like to never clean their guns or run them dry because it is a testament to how reliable they are. Well, guns without sufficient oil in certain spots wear faster. It's great and all that your gun can run with minimal oil, but there is no reason to do so. |
