Heads up TFLers! Stag Arms website notice....

I'm not sure if any forum members posted this message yet but Stag Arms; www.StagArms.com has a new site & some details about orders/rifles/spare parts/etc...
The company waiting list for new semi auto ARs is now(02/19/2013) 2 years!

Yes, check the company site for updates. Also note: Stag Arms is no longer going to accept new dealers until they get caught up with the purchases/customer service.
I'm sure these company posts/updates will be more common in the US firearms/shooting sports industry. Sad but true.

They posted that about a month ago... nothing new... I am on the phone every day with most manufacturers everyday and its all the same thing. Sad part is its all because of people panic buying / or people buying to resell and make a buck. I get countless customers who come in looking for a certain gun we are sold out of and cant order... so they just pick the gun that's next to where it was in the case. People are literally buying guns just to buy a gun.

Don't get me wrong.. I think the unjust laws are stupid.. and I am all about our 2nd Amendment.. but lets face it... guns CAN kill people when in the wrong hands.. and those hands can include untrained and uneducated people who are running out buying a gun.. getting their carry permit.. and loading the mags and never getting any proper training.

PLEASE People if you have friends who are all of a sudden interested in owning a firearm... do your part... and take them out shooting a few times.. and show them how to properly handle a firearm.

All of our wholesalers have notices as well that they cannot get the firearms for some time.

Good tip...

That's a good message HK.
FWIW, SIG Sauer did state on the main website for new owners/entry level shooters to get skill training & know the laws/SOPs.

Like I stated a few weeks ago, the hysteria & panic buying reminds me of the 1980s comedy film; The Survivors with Robin Williams & the late Walter Matheau. If you never saw it, watch it if you can. It's exactly what you discuss.

Once folks figure out there will not be any kind of a total ban, and emotional levels simmer down, I believe a lot of new commers who have ordered complete rifles will change their mind and cancel orders. There will come a time when we will start seeing shorter lead times on rifle builds and ammunition start to show up in reasonable amounts. When? Who knows as this is a odd/new situation. Naturally this all depends on when another unforseen tragic event occurs. This has been a huge learning experience for many. I live in a rural suburb near large farms and ranches where practice shooting would normally be heard every weekend. I have not heard one shot in over a month.

Many of those backorders are going to be cancelled and things will return to normal in less than 2 years. Thats my prediction. There are a lot of retailers that are being smart about this as well by limiting quantities they will sell to people and not accepting backorders. This shortage will end after a certain amount of time and not a certain amount of orders fulfilled.

2014....

I agree that as emotions & outrage cool down, sales or orders may slow but the snail pace of some shooting sports industry firms may stretch this mess out until 2014 or early 2015.
My big issue is QC will drop from the major gun firms & top end custom shops due to high demands, stressed out workers, lack of materials, etc.

These business owners or staff shouldn't take short cuts or cut corners to make more $$$ from new(unrefined) gun owners/shooters.

A lot of it must be regional. The LGSs that I tend to go to both have EBRs on the shelf, a fair amount, and they've been there. The one even had one of those incredibly clunky looking Kriss things. Up close I'd have to say no thanks to that.

Both have Magpul mags that have been there a while, the one has a number of other brands. Today my favorite even had stripped lowers, at $149 a pop, but that's what they were going for prior to The Madness. There was actually a stack of LPKs, but for some reason they had the insane price of $130.

The one even had 100rnd boxes of .223, for the incredible value of $65! Their words.

The one thing that is still not to be found ANYwhere I've looked are Ruger 10/22s, or .22 ammo in any quantity what-so-ever. THAT I don't get.

Glad I paid $59.99 for another new stripped lower (PSA) in November. Even $149 is pretty outrageous, IMHO.

It's not surprising that there's a shortage of .22 stuff, especially with the price of centerfire ammo.
Recently, our local Walmart shelves were completely bare
of all ammo, except for shotgun.
And even nearly out of air gun pellets!

Funny you should mention... Last week Ruger sent me a batch of SR9c's with .40 cal mags in the cases.

This week Ruger sent me two LC9's that were supposed to be packaged with a lasermax laser... we never got the lasers.

Not knocking Ruger at all... but make sure if your buying one to make sure everything is right.. and there.
