Glock19 Or Glock26 ?

Hello,
Please help!!! Getting ready to purchase a new gun. I want a Glock 19 or Glock 26. Can not make up my mind. I need opinions on both. I know that's what I want, but unfortunately I can't handle them because no local gun store around me have them in stock. I am going to order online.

I initially purchased a Glock 26 but by the time I added a pinky extension I decided that I should have just bought a 19...which I did.

G26 all the way. It is one of the finest CCW pistols on the planet. Mine shoots like a full sized 9mm, yet disappears under a T-shirt.

If only a glock will do for CC buy the g26 and an X Grip adaptor , a couple g17 mags and you will then have a full grip to use in matchs/range time as backup or home defence and still have the 10 round mags for carry.

I would say it depends on how large your hands are. If you have smaller hands then a 26 could work for you. If your hands are medium to large I would say go with the 19. Neither is very hard to conceal but the 26 is hard to get a good grip on if you have larger hands.

At the risk of sounding sexist, I would guess that with the name "Denise," she has hands that are smaller than mine.

If that is the case, the G26 should not have too small a grip. I can use one, and my glove size is L/XL.

Haha. I guess I missed that part. I would imagine that the 26 may be a better choice if that is the case since it will hide better under women's clothing.

The G26 will conceal better but it doesn't have rails for a light mount, loses velocity/power vs the G19, holds less rounds, and will have more perceived recoil than the G19.

If you don't plan on carrying it on your body then most shooters will prefer the G19.

I have them both. You just can't go wrong on this decision. If it's going to be for purse carry, you can get away with the G19 if you carry med/large purses. Small purse and you're better off with the G26.

First off- I would not buy anything without being able to handle it in person myself. There's no need to panic and be desperate. Be patient, it's worth it.

That being said, my EDC is a 26. I like the smaller size as it is better overall for carry, for me and my needs.

People love the 19; but, you can "make" the 26 larger with a grip extension. You cannot make the 19 smaller.

(See what I did there? )

Honestly, both are good guns. Both are relatively easy to conceal. A G26 isn't that much easier to conceal than a G19, especially if you use any of the different grip extensions (which basically give you the same size grip as a G19, just with a smaller sight radius, smaller slightly less accurate barrel, and fewer rounds).

I'd go with a G19, and a good IWB holster. If you can't conceal a G19, you'll have difficulty concealing a G26, and at that point, you might as well go for a single stack 9 of some kind.

EDIT: I didn't realize you are female. I still stick with what I said though. Glocks are big, bulky guns, and many females who don't want to dress like men all the time will have difficulty concealing them. A G19 is a little over .5 in taller, and a little under .5 in longer. That's really not that much difference in terms of concealment. It's huge in terms of handling and shooting. I really think some kind of single stack 9mm would be best, as far as concealment is concerned.

Go to your local gun shop or gun show and handle both.
Then......decide for your self.
After all no one else can......what an idea.

You can go wrong with either one. For CCW the 26 for sure

g26 grip does not offer a shorter reach to the trigger only hieght and also has a more pronounced hunp then the 19 as it over a shorter span. Not nearly as friendly.

Hmm are there any for rental? The g26 even being a subcompact is not really difficult to shoot compared to other subcompacts. What is difficult is the glock grip. Might wanna see if you can comfortably wrap your hands around a Gen 3 and Gen 4, pretty big difference

I would pick g19

Ah, but if the hump agrees with you it's even more "friendly." I know that's the case for me- it fits my hand as if it were made for it. Gen3 that is, I'm not crazy about the changes with the Gen4.

If you get the G26, I highly recommend getting GAP enterprises finger extension floor plates for the magazines. Lets you get a super positive grip on the gun letting you hook your fingers around the grip helping you pull it from the holster. Best 20 bucks I spent on my G27!

i had the same dilema. I went with the G19 because for not much more in size you get 5 more rounds (15) as opposed to 10. Its not that much larger and not much harder to conceal but then im a guy and i live in texas, well see how it goes this summer

Find a range that will let you rent and test fire them. My LGS let's you try as many guns in their rental pool that you want for 10 bucks. I don't think I would make such a big purchase without firing it first. With a Glock, you really can't go wrong though.

If you're going to carry concealed, the 26 is probably more suitable, IMHO. If you're not carrying, the 19 may be more comfortable depending on the size of your hands. For me, if I was carrying it, I'd choose the 26 with an extended magazine because my hands are too big for the standard 26.

Mostly concealed carry then I'd go with the G26. For a general purpose firearm I'd go with a 19. There isn't a huge difference in size between the two but the mini glocks are much handier in the concealed carry realm and they shoot well.

For concealed carry, go with the G27. The G19 is closer to a full size pistol, and the G27 accepts other .40c magazines. You could carry 15 rounds with it.

Not that it matters much but the 19 has an accessory rail and the 26 does not.

Glock 19 all the way. You'll want one eventually.

For some reason, people I know personally move up to the G19 from the 26 or 27 but never move down to the 26 or 27 from the 19.

Buy once, buy right. Glock 19.

This is truth. Everyone I know who bought a 26, now has a 19, and rarely uses the 26. I bought the 19, and have absolutely no interest in a 26.

As I said, if you can conceal a 26, a 19 isn't that much harder to conceal, plus you get all the benefits of a near full size pistol.
