So, What should I pay for lead?

Hi gang...

If I were scrounging wheel weights (with zinc weights and steel clamp-y parts mixed in), what should I expect to pay?

Are there better places to look than my local tire store?

One of my salvage yard places tells me they are not 'licensed' for retail sale.

any medical buildings doing a remodel? They usually have an xray room where the walls are lead lined

Find clubs that might let you mine their berms

I usually make friends with who I buy my tires from and can usually get a free 5 gallon bucket full from them, here and there. Just don't get greedy and don't pester.

A lot of the stick on weights aren't lead anymore, you don't want them.

I seem to have good luck finding lead in the old houses/buildings that I work in as a carpentry contractor. I probably have about 50+ pounds in my storage shed out back that I just found this summer. I need to take it to a old member of the muzzleloader club I shot in. He makes all sizes of lead balls as a trade for some of the lead.

zinc is very bad for molding from what I have read. If I am wrong someone plz set me right.

Check out Cast Boolits.com forums. Those guys know their stuff, and somebody is almost always selling lead.

The usual price is around $1.00 per lb. Shipping cuts into that, though.
