Ruger American

I bought a 308 Ruger American and need scope rings for a 1'' tube 40mm scope. This is a buget build. I think the rifle comes with a mount and I need Weaver compatible rings. I was thinking med height. Any recomendations appreciated.

I put the medium height rings on my American with a Nikon 3x9x40. Works like a champ. The std. "low" rings would be to low!! High rings would be a problem with cheek weld.

I agree, I tried high rings and they were a bit tall, medium rings fit nicely.

My best answer is call tech support for whomever you are ordering from and let them tell you what definitely will work instead of us just guessing. They have computer programs and charts with all those variables plugged in. My guess is low, but who knows if I am right? When I need rings, I call Midway or SWFA and tell them exactly what I am putting on what, and I tell them I want clearance, but bare minimal clearance between the bell and the barrel; they always give me just what I ask for.

Correct...takes the guess work out of it.
