M&P pro Apex extractor

Hi every one,

I am farely new to automatic had guns but not new to shooting.

I just purchased as M&P pro and so far I like it. The trigger is a touch heavy but it breaks clean enough for me. Also on the internet I read about extractor problems that and Apex extractor cures. I was wondering if I should by this now or if I should weight until I have a FTE or has S&W fixed the problem was it really ever a major concern in the first place. So for I only have 12 rounds through it but no problems.

Just wait and see if you have a problem before adding parts.

I would give it a few more than 12 rounds to see if things smooth out a bit.

Is that the one with the fiber optic front site - I had looked at the pro model but could not find one at the time I was looking. I thought it was a pretty nice piece.

Sorry if my orginal post is unclear. I haven't had any problems yet but I was curious how many rounds it takes to determine if your in the clear.

I haven't heard about issues with the M&P Pro's extractor. Doesn't mean there isn't an issue, I've just never heard of it. Please let me know what you heard about the pro extractor.

I've had 0 FTE or FTF out of > 2000 rounds through my M&P9 Pro.

I run just about all the Apex parts except the extractor in mine. The CAEK and RAM did a lot to help the trigger, but as to the extractor I haven't had enough problems out of mine that I felt I needed to replace it.

The gun will jam if it gets dirty, but it takes me about 400-500 rounds of my fairly dirty reloads (Unique with cast lead bullets) before that becomes an issue. I have other load recipes that burn a bit cleaner that don't gunk it up as bad.

Just clean the gun every other outing or so - take a dental pick and make sure you scrape any crud out from under the extractor hook.

As long as I do that, my gun runs 100%.

Joe, I have close to 2,750 rounds through my M&P in just over a year. The first time that the ejection has been anything but consistent was when I shot a steel challenge match this weekend. I had one piece of brass ejected back into my face. All other 2,749 rounds have ejected to 5 o'clock and clustered together very well.

In short, don't buy a new extractor yet. If it ain't broke, don't "fix" it.
