Should have known better I guess? Re: 5.56 ammo order
I don't know if I should have just known better given the times or if I should be upset or just have a beer and go about my merry way.
I ordered some FAXM193BK from Natchez a while back. Based on this: "XM193 product is first run, first quality product manufactured at Lake City Army Ammunition Plant for the U.S. Government to NATO specifications.", I was expecting to get the Federal bulk pack stuff with Lake City brass. What I got was Independence XM193I with FC headstamps. I suppose at this point I should be happy that I got anything. But I was hoping to get 500 pieces of the LC brass for my reloading endeavors out of this deal. This is my first real go-around with the AR platform and reloading for it. Been tearing up the .308 and getting some really good handloads; was time for a change of caliber. Am I just being dumb?

It's at home in the safe. I'm pretending to work right now. I'll have a closer look at the packaging tonight.

Skadoosh, you are correct.
Made in Israel. So.....
Re: 243... it's a 5.56 chamber; no worries there.

If that stuff was made by IMI (in Israel) it's going to be well made ammo.
And if Federal simply had IMI headstamp their own brass "FC" (which is very possibly what has been done)... ...then you have some IMI cases, which in my opinion will make better brass than even Lake City. I doubt that Federal made brass over here and shipped it over there for IMI to load. So that's probably some pretty good brass. Could be a blessing in disguise. Check this link... read on down the page, re IMI... http://ammo-oracle.razoreye.net/ Dan

...consider yourself lucky that you were able to buy any at all.... this stuff is very hard to find now....
I read that in Isreal, citizens are given a lifetime amount of ammo - 50 rounds! |

I haven't seen ANYTHING the Israeli's make that could be called "poor quality".
As small a country as they are with their limited manufacturing facilities I'd bet if they're making and selling that ammo, they're using it too. Especially when it comes to firearms. All the Best, D. White

IMI is some of my favorite brass. I landed a bunch of .308 some years ago and it was very consistent in weight and lasts a long time.
