.270 WSM: 150 gr Berger VLD Hunting Match
Does anybody have data or recommendations on powder to use? Or if there is better round for 1000 yds for a sniper competition? I will take all recommendations into consideration. All ears!

Is there a better round? There's always a better round no matter what we have.
I hunt with the 270 WSM and use Ramshot magnum. My favorite 1000 yard is .284 Win with 180 grain Berger match. I also shoot 6.5X284 with 140 grain hybrid Bergers.

Re: reynolds357
Do you reload, and if you do, what powder do you use for .270 WSM?

Ramshot Magnum. It will get you up to 3100+ fps.

I have a sniper competition coming up and I wanted to use my .270 WSM, thats why I am asking for any data out there to help me along quicker. Of course, the round is not the only thing I need to make those shots, but that is for a different forum to be posting. Thanks for the recommendation.

Go to ramshots online data. My load is a bit over their max, but in my opinion max is limited by how much of this powder you can kram in the case on .270 WSM. If I could kram more in, I would. Having said that, you know all the warnings about going over max published data; keep them in mind. Ramshot Magnum is capable of being superbly accurate in the WSM, just have to find your load which I can guarantee will be different than mine especially with a Berger and the difference in seat depth from rifle to rifle. I am getting some primer flattening, but that is not necessarily too bad a thing with soft Federal primers. I am sure if I tested with a Remington it would not be showing any flattening.
