Winchester model 70 safety/bolt fix?
I'm looking at a mid-60s push feed model 70. The safety (or something) doesn't work when pulled all the way back toward the shooter. Normally, the safety is on in this position and the bolt cannot be operated. However, on this rifle the bolt can be operated with the safety in the full rearward position. Is there an easy (cheap) fix for this. I can get a really good price because of this defect, and the rifle is wearing a nice Vari-X III 3x9 scope. Any help or advice appreciated.

Sounds like the safety plunger needs to be replaced. Pretty easy fix. But even if it took replacing the whole bolt shroud you would be less than $100 into it in parts.
