New SIG P220 Match Elite adjustable rear sight is real loose help ?

The rear sight was tight before putting 150 .45 230 fmj rounds through it and when I stripped it down for cleaning I noticed the rear sight would wobble up and down and side to side on the dovetail ! I have not attempted to do anything with the rear sight without finding out if someone knows an easy fix or if anybody else has had this problem with their P220 Match rear sight ! This is the target sight which looks well designed and rugged...so I'm wondering if there is a set screw or something that may have loosened underneath the elevation ramp ? I'm new to SIG pistols...so any help is appreciated , thanks !

Unscrew the elevation screw all the way out, the top part of the sight will flip up, held on via a hinge, two very small springs apply pressure, they typically stay in without falling out, now you'll see a hex screw, very small 1-2 mm IIRC, line up windage then tighten down and then reinstall elevation screw. Yes it's a stupid design, I'm tempted to drill out a large hole on the part of the sight that flips up so it'll expose that hex screw without dealing with undoing the elevation screw. I've tightened it down tightly and after one trip to the range I will have slop in the sight.

It's rather annoying, if my drill trick won't work I'm just going to replace them with fixed sights.

Thanks , I tightened the set screw underneath the hinged part held down by the elevation screw and it took the slop out ! I do agree that the design seems rather lame and could keep loosening under use ( which is exactly what happened ) ! Maybe a bit of medium strength loctite would help keep it from coming loose under fire....I'd rather not have to use it though ! I really like the pistol otherwise !

Thought about locktite as well, can't see having to do that after spending 1k on my 1911

Thanks , I went and got some new extra 3M x 0.50mm x3mm set screws from a local shop and decided to use a new set screw with blue medium strength loctite to keep it in place ( hopefully it will do the job ) ! I noticed my front sight is not centered properly as well.......all my shots were grouping right at 25 yards and while it can be adjusted out to some degree with the rear blade I want to push the front sight more to the right which will be better centered for appearance and bring my group more to the left ! I ordered a MGW sight pusher tool for Sig pistols which will come in handy in the future ! The pistol did group very well for its first outing.....even with the loose rear sight !

Well keep track of your round count and note when if at all it gets loose again.

I may have to run over and pick up a new screw.

As for grouping ill still hit the 10 ring at 15 yards no problem with the loose rear sight.
