Mag Plug removal Mossberg 535

Hi All. I like the idea of my 535 doubling as a defense gun with the turkey barrel. How do I remove the magazine plug that comes with it for a couple extra rounds? It doesn't seem intuitive (or at least not like my Remington!). Thank you.

1) Make sure it's completely unloaded
2) Open action
3) Unscrew barrel screw
4) Remove barrel
5) With the magazine tube pointing down, shake the gun until the plug falls out of the threaded hole.

Be SURE to put the plug back before you go hunting again.

That is not working. Seems like the end of the mag tube is flared to keep the spring from coming out. The spring looks a little bundled up at the end so that the plug can't get through. How to I get the spring out? This gun is not feeding properly anyway so I wouldn't mind trying a new spring.

With gun in this tore down condition, start putting shells in the tube... after 2, the third will push dowel to the hole. Mine centered on it's own but a fine pick may be needed to coax it to the hole...

Mine came out with a little shaking last night. What barrels are you going to use?
